DETAILED
PROGRAMME
Since
1998 we have offered the Royal Burmah popular cruise to
passengers seeking a shorter luxury cruise as part of a
land tour rather than for those seeking a longer river
expedition. We ply four times a week between the ancient
capital of Pagan with its 3000 Buddhist monuments and
Mandalay the last royal capital at Mandalay. We stop for
shore excursions by foot at the villages of
Ohn-Ne-Choung and Yandabo where the Pandaw passengers
have built schools. We see real village life, pot
making, agriculture and visit Buddhist monasteries. Many
land travelers find our short cruises a welcome and
tranquil holiday within a holiday. Luxury Mandalay
cruises operate between October and March during the
High Season.
Day 1: Embark Pandaw II at Shwe Kyet Jet Jetty
south of Mandalay at
11.30h. Welcome and security briefing by ship’s
manager in the saloon
bar. Cast off and cruising through lunch and the
afternoon. After lunch
Burmese custom and tradition presentation on the sun
deck. Presentation
of traditional dress as well as culinary demonstration
by our chef. Moor over night nearby a small river bank
village.
Day 2: In the morning we explore Yandabo, this
small rural village is
famous for its production of terracotta pottery from the
riverbank clay. We will see pottery making process at
various stages. Historically, Yandabo is well-known for
the signing of the Yandabo treaty, which has been signed
by both the Burmese and British King after the first
Anglo-Burmese war. We visit the Pandaw School built with
past donations from Pandaw passengers. Cruising through
lunch.
Afternoon walk in Oh Ne Kyaung village or Shwe Pyi Thar
village to see the local life in this typical river side
community. Enjoy a sunset cocktail on board.
Day 3: Cruise through the early morning. Arrive
at Pagan in mid morning and disembark RV Pandaw II.
